Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, he retired from the US Air Force in 1996 after 20 years of service.
In 1998, he then began serving families in their time of need and graduated from John Tyler Community College with a degree in Mortuary Science.
Ed and his wife live in Portsmouth, have one son, and are members of St. Paul Catholic Church.
In his spare time, Ed is a ham radio operator, enjoys NASCAR and British television, and serves as a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #418, The Ryan Club of Norfolk, and Sons of Confederate Veteran’s Tom Smith Camp #1702.
