William Holt

Hampton, VA – William D. Holt, Jr., 81, passed away on Tuesday, January 03, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, William D. Holt, Sr. and Anna Louzette Holt, and his daughter Debra Lee Johnson.
William proudly served his country in the United States Navy and then retired from the Newport News Shipyard. He worked for the Mariner’s Museum in Newport News for many years and also devoted his time to the Northampton Volunteer Rescue Squad. He was a dedicated member of Riverside Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Betty; his children William Scott Holt, Steven B. Cappendyk (Rosie), Virginia Lynn Holt (Rob Morrison), Pamela Sue Cartner (Tim), and Cricket Holt; sister Louzette Holt Jones (C.D., Jr.); grandchildren Sean N. Holt, D.J. Holt, Madison Holt, Scotty Holt, Timmy Holt, Casey L. Johnson, Cheyenne M. Johnson, Jo Jo Cappendyk, and Martha Cappendyk; and many beloved great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Monday, January 9 from 7-9pm at Riverside Baptist Church, 7409 River Rd. Newport News, VA. A service and luncheon will be held on Tuesday, January 10 at 11am at Riverside Baptist with burial to follow at Bellamy United Methodist Cemetery in Gloucester Courthouse, VA. Altmeyer Funeral Home- Riverside Chapel is assisting the family.
