Wesley James Zooberg, 3, of Virginia Beach, VA, returned to his heavenly home on October 13, 2016. His final days were spent at home, surrounded by loved ones. Wesley’s life may seem too short to some, but as we sing God’s praises, we try to remember that quality of existence far exceeds quantity of time in which one lives. His sweet smile, cackling laugh, and nurturing nature brought joy to all around him.
Although he spent over half his life battling cancer, Wesley showed a fierceness that never dampened. He fought hard to the very end. He loved superheroes, stickers, art, playing games, and cuddling with his blankie. Wesley was a mama’s boy, beloved son, treasured brother, and a kindred spirit of his little sister. Wesley is survived by his parents, Peter and Amber Zooberg, brothers Bryson and Nicholas Zooberg, sister Elsa Zooberg, paternal grandparents Carl and Susan Zooberg, maternal grandparents James and Hyang Mentzer, and his uncles and aunts.
A memorial service and reception, open to the public, will be held in Wesley’s honor on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 2pm at Altmeyer Funeral Homes, 5792 Greenwich Rd, Virginia Beach, Va. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to his fundraiser by clicking HERE.

To Amber, Peter, Bryson, Nicholas, Elsa, Jim, Hyang, Melissa and the rest of Wesley’s loving family. Our hearts continue to break for you during this horrible time in your life. There is nothing worse than losing a child. You can take some comfort in the fact that Wesley is now at peace and no longer in pain. He is with the angels now and watching over you. I do believe that some day you will see him again. You all continue to be in our thoughts and prayers. With love, Sue and Peter Roos

We are heartbroken and continue to think about your family constantly. We never got a chance to meet Wesley but it was obvious what a special, brave little man he was. He will always be in our thoughts as will the rest of the family. We love you buddy.

I followed Wesley’s story thanks to a close friend and I am thankful for having been part of this because Wesley taught me to love, kiss, hug and cherish all those around me more. You guys taught me the amazing strength of a parent and how unbelievably fierce you are. My deepest consolation this very difficult time. I hope you get the necessary comfort as time passes, from knowing your baby is in a better place and by seeing the life in his siblings. Stay strong. I wish you peace and wish I could deliver millions of hugs and support your way.

Bob and I are remembering the scripture John 14:2 and know that Wesley is in his freshly built mansion. God had a purpose and plan for Wesley bigger than we can imagine. Praying for you and your wife and family during this difficult time in your lives. Hold on to your precious memories until you meet again.
