Wayne G. Birkner

Wayne George Birkner, 77, passed away peacefully on January 29.  He was born in Paterson, NJ, the eldest child of George and Edna Birkner.
Wayne was a graduate of Lafayette College before attending graduate school at Fairleigh Dickinson University.  Upon completing his military service, he went on to work at Bausch & Lomb, beginning a long career in health products and pharmaceuticals.  After relocating to Virginia Beach with his family, he ended his career teaching English at Centura College.
In his free time, he could be found sitting on the beach, reading a book, in the company of family and friends.  An avid sports fan, fall Sundays were spent watching the NY Giants.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife Suzanne; their three children, Bryan, Aynsley, and Connor; and his sister Brenda Hulting and her husband Bob.
A memorial service to celebrate Wayne’s life will be held at 10 AM on Saturday February 4 at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1801 Baltic Ave. Virginia Beach, VA.
