Vincent Alan Jones, Sr.

December 28, 1958 - July 30, 2023

12/28/1958 - 07/30/2023

In loving memory of Vincent Alan Jones, Sr., known lovingly as Geezer to friends and family

On July 30, 2023, Vincent passed away at the age of 64 in Newport News Virginia. He fought a decades long battle with heart disease and a 10-month battle with lung and liver cancer.

Vincent is survived by his wife of 45 years Cindy Jones, six children; Vincent Jones Jr., Justin Jones Sr., Jennifer Sadler-Anderson, Leanna Jones, Justin Jones Jr, and Anthony Jones, four grandchildren; Robby Sadler-Anderson, Levi Sadler-Anderson, Angel Sadler-Anderson, and Cali Redlin, great grandson; Jeremiah Guerra, goddaughter Shannon Redlin, two sisters; Paula Ayala- Bowen, and Shelly Downing, son-in-law Shay Sadler-Anderson, mother-in-law Sharon Hinesley, three brothers-in-law; Mark Bowen, Charles Downing, David Medford Ramirez-Rubalcaba, two-sisters-in law; Lori Waldren and Sandra Philabaum.

Vincent was born and raised in Southern California and considered Azuza, California his hometown. He moved to the Palm Springs, California area in his 20s. In 1996 Vincent and the family moved to the Virginia Peninsula, starting a business in his chosen trade of tile setting. He remained in business until heart disease forced an early retirement.

Vincent enjoyed 37 years of sobriety that afforded him a life free to pursue his love of family and motorcycles. He was a thoughtful caring husband, father, grandad, and sibling with a great sense of humor. This spirit was on full display when he threw a mayonnaise covered pickle at the girl that later became his wife, and a desire to have his ashes placed in a Folgers can. His humor was contagious and never mean spirited or hurtful. Vincent was a member of the Hampton Roads Southern Cruisers Riding Club, chapter 26; a group of like-minded riders who loved the open road. He enjoyed participating in long weekend rides and established lifelong friendships with young and old members of the club.

Vincent was a man truly loved by family and friends, and will be sorely missed by all that knew him.

It was Vincent ‘s wish to have a Celebration of Life in lieu of a formal service. In keeping with this wish, the family is planning a party/potluck barbecue Saturday, August 26, 2023 at his home in Newport News, Virginia. The family will provide the grilled portion of the potluck, to include ribs and hotdogs. For further details contact Cindy Jones via Facebook messenger or by calling Vince or Cindy’s cell. We will light the grill around 4 PM, but everyone is welcome earlier. Weather permitting, children are welcome to swim under adult supervision.
