Teresa E. Geithman, beloved wife, cherished mother, and devoted grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2023, in Newport News, VA, at the age of 94. She was born on June 6, 1929, in New York, NY, to Lucia and Martire Guido.

Throughout her life, Teresa exemplified resilience, compassion, and a zest for living. After serving in the US Air Force, she dedicated herself to serving others as a wonderful and caring mother to her three children and as a school bus driver. She dedicated herself to caring for others as a School Bus Driver for the city of Newport News. Her dedication and commitment were evident in the smiles of the children she safely transported each day.

Teresa’s interests were vast and varied. She found solace and joy in the pages of books, the artistry of ceramics, the intricacies of crocheting, and the warmth of her delicious baked goods. As a devoted fan, she cheered passionately for the NY Yankees and NFL Football, always finding excitement and camaraderie in these sports.

Teresa was a faithful member of the Catholic Daughters, where she found comfort and spiritual guidance. She cherished the community she found within this organization and nurtured lifelong friendships with fellow members.

Teresa’s true legacy lies in the love and memories she left behind. Everyone around her was touched by her earnestness, warmth, generosity and thoughtfulness, which people remembered years after they had met her. She was always smiling and was the happiest when company would come over. She will be deeply missed by her husband of many years, Hester M. Geithman, Jr., and their children: James P. Geithman (Ellen), Michael D. Geithman, Sr. (Sherri), and Lucy M. Pitts (Randy D. Jones). Her brother, Phillip Guido, also survives her. Teresa’s memory will live on through her grandchildren: Teresa, Victoria, Michael Jr., Sarah, Christina, Rachel, Katherine, Andrew, and Jessica.

Teresa Geithman is preceded in death by her parents, Lucia and Martire Guido, as well as her brother Danny Guido and sister Damarida Frasca. Although she is no longer physically with us, the impact of her love and kindness will forever be felt by those fortunate enough to have known her.

May Teresa’s spirit of resilience and positivity continue to inspire us all. As we remember her, let us take comfort in knowing that her legacy lives on, woven into the fabric of our lives and the memories we hold dear.
A funeral service mass will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, 10am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Newport News, VA with a reception to follow. Committal to follow at 2pm at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Veterans Cemetery located in Suffolk, VA.

My deepest sympathy to Teresa’s family. I had the pleasure of working with her at NNPS Transportation Department. She also enjoyed meeting several of our retirees for lunch and dinner. She had a heart of gold and it was a pleasure to know her. I will truly miss her.
