Tammy Darlene Williams, 56, went to be with our Lord and Savior December 21, 2022. She was an amazing Commercial and Residential Painter most of her life. She worked on projects such as the Virginia Rest Stops, contracted jobs at the Shipyard, the new Air Traffic Control Tower at Newport News/Williamsburg Regional Airport, and many other places we all see in our travels around Hampton Roads. She also painted most of her family and friend’s houses at some point or another. Tammy also
had a Paralegal degree and worked in the legal field for a few years but decided she loved painting and returned to commercial painting.
Tammy also dedicated many years of her life to caregiving for family members, including her nephews, Benjamin and Adam, both of whom were born with an Auto Immune Disorder. After the death of the boys’ mother, Michelle Williams, Tammy stepped up and helped her mother and father, Mildred and Billy, with Benjamin and their dad, James, with Adam. Tammy also gave amazing care to her mother who
came to live with her for many years. Days after her mother’s death her aunt fell ill and needed care as well. Tammy stepped in and helped with her as well.
She was an amazing aunt to all her nephews. Taking them to Disney, camping, and many other fun adventures. Tammy always did her best to be the life of the party and to make sure everyone was having fun. Her ability to make people laugh was always amazing. Anything Tammy had was always shared. She made sure everyone had everything they needed even to the detriment of herself. She was always supportive of any endeavor we took on and always pitched in to help.
In the last few years of her life, the losses of so many so quickly took its toll on Tammy. She suffered from a broken heart. She became lost and as much as family and friends tried to help, she could not rebound. Tammy did not take her own life, but her soul was broken and that left her without the will to fight for her health. Her death leaves us heartbroken, but her soul is now at peace and for that we are thankful.
Tammy was preceded in death by her father, Billy Ray Williams, her mother, Mildred Marie Stanley Williams, her brother, Wesley Lynn Cavanaugh, her other mother Gracie Mae Stanley Presson Riley (her mother’s twin), her longtime partner Dana Jenson, her nephew Jacob Pisle, and many aunts and uncles from both sides of her family. Tammy is survived by her brothers Clifton Earl Williams of Pennsylvania
and James Lee Williams (Kelly) of Florida, her sister/cousin Wanda Gail Presson Lemmons (Barry) of Virginia, Nephews; Benjamin, Adam, Seth, and Casey Williams, JP Pisle, and Michael Cavanaugh. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins from the Winbournes’, the Williams’ and the Stanleys’.

I am sorry to hear of Tammy’s passing. She was a lovely person and beloved by many. Be at peace.
I was Tammy’s Latin Teacher at Bethel High School for several years. Through the years, we would cross paths and chat. I miss her and send you my deepest sympathy. Nostra Carissima Tamara, Requiescas in Pace Eterna. –De corde, Magister Oliver.
Tammy was always the life of the party. She wanted everyone to have a good time and be happy. She was also always making sure any and everyone around her was comfortable and if you needed something she would be the first to jump up and get it for you.
I know how much you all loved her and she loved all of you. I’m sorry for the broken hearts she has left behind.
