Susan Elaine McCoy

March 13, 1952 - September 7, 2023

03/13/1952 - 09/07/2023

Heaven received a special angel, Susan Elaine McCoy, formerly Bulluck, 71, of Virginia Beach, Virginia on Thursday, September 7, 2023.

Born on March 13, 1952 in Sacramento, California, she graduated from Hiram W. Johnson High School in 1970, then received an Associate degree in Accounting from Brunswick Jr. College.  She always prided herself on treating others with kindness and respect, which was exemplified in everything she did.  This resulted in many friendships as a supportive Navy wife, throughout her career as a licensed Optician and later during her volunteer efforts with the Navy Marine Corp Relief Society.  Her passion for traveling led to many adventures and as one of Mickey’s biggest fans, several vacations to Disney World.  She shared her love of baking with those she cared about.  Other hobbies included sewing, crafting, supporting local farmers and cheering on the Norfolk Tides.

Susan married Larry E. McCoy on January 15, 1971, and their love story spanned 52 remarkable years together.  She is survived by her high school sweetheart and loving husband, Larry; her two daughters and their spouses, Christine Gilbert (Will) and Laura Alldread (Robert).  She was a cherished grandmother to Evan Gilbert and Melissa Alldread.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Hazel Bulluck, and by her sister, Pauline Olsen.

Susan embodied love and joy throughout her life, leaving a treasure trove of cherished memories.  Her kind and giving spirit will forever enrich the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know her. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the Navy Marine Corp Relief Society at on Susan’s behalf.

A Celebration of Life will be held later in October.  Condolences may be given at

We had so many wonderful adventures with amazing memories that will remain with me forever.
Who will I call everyday? I am still in heartbroken disbelief I have to carry on without you.
Larry and girls words are just never enough but my dearest and deepest sympathy.
I know I am a better person for having Sue in my life.

You brought a ray of sunshine to the office when you started volunteering and I always looked forward to Wednesdays as it was always guarantied to bring a smile to my face. My heart goes out to Larry and your family. The void you have left will be felt by so many people because of your kindness and ability to always see the good in other people. To have had you in my life the last 7 years is a true blessing and my Wednesdays at the office will never be the same without you sitting in your chair greeting our sailors and marines. Every Wednesday was our catch up day for all we had going on. You made me feel like part of your family we shared recipes.plant advice, family stories, travel experiences and Laughter . You were there for me when I needed you and there will be a hole in my heart forever with you gone. One of the last selfless things you did was to make me my birthday cake ,it was delicious, and per your wish I had a piece for you.
