VIRGINIA BEACH – Shane L. Riddle, 43, went home to be with the Lord on November 11, 2022, at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Hospital.  Shane was born on July 28, 1979, in Port Clinton, OH, a son of Jesse L. Riddle and the late Marcia (Barnette) St. Marie. He was medically retired from the United States Marine Corps where he learned the true meaning of “Always Faithful” and would have made a career of it had his health allowed. Shane had many hobbies including bull riding, fishing, and storytelling. He was a lifelong gun enthusiast. Shane had a special connection with horses—he enjoyed horseback riding and team roping—often traveling many miles to participate in roping competitions. He was a member of Blackwater Baptist Church. Shane was predeceased by a brother, Jesse “Shawn” Riddle.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 21 years, Jennifer Talbott Riddle; daughter, Paige Riddle (Chase Dunn) of Phoenix, AZ; son, Colton Riddle of Virginia Beach; father, Jesse (Kathy) Riddle of Sandusky, OH; siblings, Nina (Charlie) Garza of Wauwatosa, WI, and Timothy Riddle of Columbus, OH; uncle to Seth, Mason, Karissa, Hayley, Julianne, Nevaeh, and Joe; and a host of other family and friends.

The family will receive friends at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Chesapeake on Friday from 5:30-7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at Blackwater Baptist Church. Interment with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Doorways in Richmond, Virginia, and the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation. Express condolences to the family at www.altmeyerfh.com.

I’m so very saddened to hear of Shane’s passing. He was an amazing man who loved his family immensely. He was strong willed and stubborn at times. I will always cherish my time getting to know Shane and Jennifer. Some patients come in and out of our lives and some leave footprints.Shane was someone I will never forget. Shane you are loved and missed. My thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Very sad to here of Shane’s passing. I met Shane less than a year ago and we immediately hit it off and became great friends !
Having health struggles of my own and many of the same hobbies enabled me to relate to his struggles to connect with him maybe in ways other people couldn’t. I feel like I lost a brother even though I only knew him for a short time.
If there is anything I can to to help, please to not hesitate to ask !
My prayers are with you !

Shane was part of our pancreas family. We have a young son with it. Talked to Shane a lot about. Pancreatitis can bring the strongest people down. So heartbreaking to hear of Shane’s passing.
Shane you can ride and rope pain free now. I would tell Shane. Your not a broken man. But a stronger man than you will ever know fighting this. Prayers to his family. 💜💜 Ride hard Shane. You will be truly missed.
