Sergeant First Class Christopher Spencer (37) transitioned to his heavenly home on October 5, 2021. Christopher was born on June 21, 1984, to Wilson and Annie Spencer, in Selma Alabama.

He was a 2002 graduate from Hardaway High School in Columbus Georgia. From then he enlisted in the United States Army completing basic training at Fort Jackson South Carolina and AIT training at Fort Eustis Virginia. He selflessly served his country for nearly 20 years and was set to retire in early 2022.

Chris met the love of his life, Norma Jean Spencer, while stationed at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. In 2009 they relocated to Virginia Beach, Virginia, and were married in July 2013. Above all else, Chris cherished his family. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing, grilling and playing Xbox. Every Fall Saturday afternoon he could be found on the couch cheering on his team, Alabama Crimson Tide, while on the phone with his brothers and cousin.

Chris was preceded in death by his father, Wilson Spencer Sr. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Norma Jean Spencer. His children, Jeremiah, Steven, and Torii. His mother, Annie Louise Spencer, Roswell, Georgia. Two brothers, Wilson Darryl (Kenya) Spencer Jr, Smiths Station, AL and Erick Kendrick Spencer, Camden, AL. Four nieces Keundra Hightower, Nashabia Spencer, Erin Moton and Vysion Williams. Four nephews Kendarius Spencer, Keldrick Jones, Shamaric Jones and Kion Hightower. His memory will also be cherished by a host of cousins, a ton of friends, and the many soldiers who were blessed to work beside him.

Services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach. To be followed by a graveside service at 12:30 pm at Albert G. Horton Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk Virginia.

SFC Spencer, or as I known him, PSG, was an amazing man. He always did his best to make sure everyone was ok and safe. He was stern, disciplined, and at the same time was a should to cry on. He was taken from us too soon. He had so much more to offer the world, but God has a plan. He knows what he is doing and knows who PSG was as a man and need him more up there to help make heaven even more heavenly. We will all see him again in our time. At least he’s at pease and has the best seat in the house for all his roll tide games! We will all miss him. I will miss him and I want his family to know that I know they don’t know me nor I them but PSG was a great man and a mentor to me and if they need anything I will do everything in my power to be there and help. I’m sorry this happened.
