Sarah Maria Owens, 41 passed away peacefully in her home to be with the Lord on July 19, 2022.  Born March 28, 1981 in Minnesota and grew up in Winchester Virginia.

Sarah was a Loving Wife, Loving Mother and a Proud United States Marine Corps Corporal.  After graduation from High School she joined the Marine Corps.  Sarah served on active duty until November 10th, 2003 and during her last dance at the Marine Corps Ball, danced, fell in love and eventually married Steven Ray Owens. During their time together, she gave birth to three very special children, Aeddan Samual, Alexandra Christianna, and Nia Lucia.  Her passions were doting on her family, singing in the Church Choir and at home.  Sarah always had a smile on her face, a song in her heart as she strived at being the best of friends to everyone she has ever met.

Sarah was named by her father and mother after the James Taylor song Sarah Maria. As you listen to the song, think about her. It will bring great memories of her to your heart.

Her surviving family includes her husband Steve, children Aeddan, Alexandra, and Nia, parents Kenneth Hewitt and Sandra Hewitt, sister Annie Craft, brother Jamie Hewitt, and her best friend from the Marine Corps Sergeant Dawn Lavery.

Services will be held on August 13, 2022, 1PM at Saint Francis Church, 509 S Rosemont Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23452.

We were so shock when we heard the news. Sarah had such a beautiful spirit about her. Will miss hearing that angelic voice reading the Prayers of the People at church. Will also miss that yummy cake she used to make for all of us.
Rest in love Sarah.

Sarah was such sweet and kind friend and I will always remember her. She was my best friend for many years. We were super close. She helped me coordinate my second marriage and I’ve seen her raise all three of her children. I was also her hairdresser when I lived in Virginia Beach, in fact that’s how I met her. Just sad to see her pass so soon and so young. She will be greatly missed. Prayers to her family and friends. God rest her her soul in heaven always.🕯️🙏🏻💐
