Sarah Inez Mason, 45, passed away peacefully at her home in Virginia Beach, Virginia,on June 3, 2022, surrounded by her loving children. She was born on August 8, 1976, in Galveston, Texas.
Sarah’s legacy is one of love, laughter, kindness, generosity, forgiveness and compassion. Her greatest contribution in life was her absolute devotion to her children or her five heartbeats as she referred to them. Sarah taught her children to be strong in the face of adversity, to be thankful for their blessings, to find joy in the simple things in life and to love each other unconditionally as she loved them. Always a nature and animal lover, she immediately adopted any dog or turtle who needed a home! Being in Sarah’s company meant that you would experience a heart as big as the universe with an endless capacity to love and be loved.
In her darkest hours, she continued to brighten the lives of others while minimizing the challenges she faced. It is not surprising that her philosophy on life can be summed up by this touching quote:
“If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart. I’ll stay there forever”
~ Winnie the Pooh ~
Sarah will be profoundly missed by her surviving family members: Children Jimmie Lee Hannah, Anthony Christopher Manuel, Angelique Anne-Marie Manuel, Bashan Xavier Manuel and Linda Nicole Manuel of Virginia Beach, Virginia; parents John Daniel Mason and Carolyn Sue Dunford (Mason) (deceased) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; sisters Melissa Ann Mills and Jennifer Louise Sampson of Jacksonville, North Carolina; brother Aaron Lewis Mason of Beulaville, North Carolina; nieces Shelby Alexis Curran of Cleveland, Ohio and Chelsea Paige Whelan of Jacksonville, North Carolina; nephews Jordan Tyler Whelan of Savannah, Georgia, Jacob Mason of Virginia and Shaun Marcus Sampson of Jacksonville, North Carolina.
