Committal Service

Rose Mae (Seybold) Simon, 90, died peacefully on November 21, 2022, with her beloved daughter Anna by her side.
Rose loved to recount stories from her life, and often commented that she couldn’t believe she was 90! Some of Rose’s favorite stories to recount were of God’s goodness, especially how He helped her to survive pneumonia-meningitis, a battle she fought and survived when she was 6 and 7 years old – a time when there were no antibiotics. Rose saw herself as a “survivor,” and it was that inner strength that carried her through until her last breath.
In the 1960-80’s, Rose was affectionally known as an “Avon lady,” rising to the level of team lead. Then, from 1992-2008, she was a realtor with both Long & Foster and Prudential. In both of these capacities, she got to know each person and family she worked with, tailoring her services to their individual needs. Many of her customers and clients became friends.
Rose was married to Alfred “Buddy” D. Simon for nearly 55 years before he passed away in July 2007. Rose is survived by two daughters, Roseann Eshbach of Fredericksburg, VA and Anna Simon of Yardley, PA; one son-in-law, Jeff Hollabaugh; two brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
Rose was predeceased by her parents, Oliver and Frances Seybold; and all eight of her siblings, Oliver Seybold, Richard Seybold, Jean Blazek, Kitty Kovach, Alethea Seybold, Carmen Seybold, Dolores Cearley, and Eileen Bush. She was also predeceased by her son-in-law, Thomas Eshbach, in January 2022.
The family will hold visitation from 10-11 am on Friday, November 25, 2022 at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Southside Chapel, 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach, VA. 23462. A funeral service will follow at 11 am. Graveside service will be held at Rosewood Memorial Park.
