Ronald Samuel Mollick passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 7, 2022.

The youngest son of Eastern European immigrants Philip Mollick and Fay Goldband Mollick, Ron was born March 5, 1944, and raised in San Diego, California.  He earned his BS and MS degrees in biology at San Diego State University before heading to Newport News, VA in 1968 for a faculty position in the Biology Department at Christopher Newport College. After pursing a doctorate degree in zoology at North Carolina State University, Dr. Mollick returned to a lengthy teaching career and retirement as Professor Emeritus from CNU, leaving the university much transformed when from when he arrived 43 years prior.  During that time, his leadership ability and strong moral compass shined through in his roles in the CNU Faculty Senate, the American Association of University Professors, and the Board of Directors for the local affiliate of Planned Parenthood.

Ron was a devoted husband of 50 years to his love, Beth Shepherd Mollick, and a loving father to Alison Mollick Folkwein (Justin) of Avon, CT, and Emily Mollick Wallace (Daniel) of Leesburg, VA.  He was a playful and engaged grandfather to Gabriel, Jadon, Owen, Ayla, Livia, and Asher. Ron is also survived by his siblings, Milton Mollick and Phyllis Mollick Schissell of Southern California and numerous nieces and nephews. A lover of nature, animals, music, and sports, Ron’s sound advice, inclusive attitude, and practical nature will be greatly missed by the family as well as by his many colleagues, former students, and friends.

A farewell gathering will be held Saturday, May 21st from 11:00am-12pm at Christopher Newport University followed by a reception from 1-3pm at Windward Towers where he resided.
