Celebration of Life

Ronald “Kelly” Lucas, 47, passed away on the morning of Saturday July 11, 2015.  He was born July 8, 1968 in West Virginia but spent most of his life in Texas and Virginia.  He was a 2nd Class Shipfitter at Colonnas Ship Repair.
Kelly had a personality that was magnetic to others.  He was a notorious jokester, lover of golf and big fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Astros.  The ocean was a place that he enjoyed going whether it be for some fun in the sun, or some much needed relaxation.  His son Devon was the absolute love of his life.  Kelly was a good natured person that loved to have fun and make people laugh.
Left to cherish Kelly’s memory are his son Devon Lucas; parents Cheryl and Dick Blankenship; brother, Richard Zachary Blankenship; very special friend, Lettie Maykowski and a legion of extended family and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Kelly at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Rd. Virginia Beach, VA 23456 on Thursday July 16, 2015 at 2:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Heart Association.  The memory of Kelly will live on in our hearts forever.

Cheryl and Dickey, my deepest condolences to you , Zach, Kelly’s son and the entire family. Kelly, I am so grateful that we had the opportunity to reconnect the past two years. Rehashing our colorful youth. Boy, we made some waves didn’t we. HAHA. We also learned a lot about life, and friendship and love. I often thought of you through the years, wondering how you were. Thanks to Facebook, I got to find out. My son recently moved to the area and Kelly was nice enough to offer to show him around. It was just classic Kelly being sweet. What a huge part of my life you were and I will never forget you. My first love. That’s a precious memory I will hold in my heart forever. Until we meet again, my friend. Much love, Sherri

I will miss seeing you in the morning waiting by my truck to go to work. You always were there when I needed a helping hand. You always seemed to pull a joke out when I needed a laugh. RIP my friend.
