Ronald Clayton Wendle Jr., age 95, left this life as gently as he lived on Tuesday May 9, 2023. Ronnie was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania to Ronald Clayton Wendle Sr. and Thelma Irene High on March 4, 1928. Ronald traveled the world with the United States Air Force which led him to the love of his life, Anne Elizabeth Chambers of Nottingham, England. They were married in June of 1948. Ronald and his family settled in Hampton, VA and after retirement from 20 years of service he continued his craft with the Newport News Shipyard.
Ronald enjoyed staying busy in his retirement and excelled at many arts. He loved building, woodworking, and creating beautiful memories for his family. Ronald also enjoyed classical music, model airplanes, puzzles, and his Netflix movies. He enjoyed most of all the company of his family who knew him as Gaga. Gaga left behind his sister Phyllis O’Donnell, his granddaughters, Rikki Leigh Emerson and Tonya Lynn Liscombe, and their husbands Michael Emerson and Edward Liscombe, his great grand children, Teri Michelle Thorp and Michael Clayton Emerson, Teri’s husband Brian Thorp, and his great great grandchildren, Dylan Michael Emerson, Madison Elizabeth Thorp, and Riley Sophia Emerson. He was preceded in death by his father Ronald Wendle Sr., his wife Anne Elizabeth Wendle, his mother Thelma Irene Wendle, his brother Curtis “Bud” Wendle, and his daughter Sharon Anne Haywood.
Burial site services will be private and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
