Robert James Price, “Bob,” of Virginia Beach went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at the age of 75 years. Bob was born on September 10, 1940 to the Edward and Mary (formerly Barlow) Nevins in Atlantic City, NJ.
Bob served his country for 23 years as an aviation electrician in the United States Navy. He later went on to Naval Air Rework Facility for 12 years where his work continued serving those who serve. He served Our Lord by worshiping at Tidewater Church of Christ in Chesapeake, Virginia where he also served as a volunteer teacher.
Bob was an avid glass bottle collector, procuring most of his finds from beneath the ground. He also created wooden toys to provide delight to some of the local children. Amid these talents, he was a renown handyman who could fix ANYTHING.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, son Mark David Price, sister-in-law Lora Price, and nephew Freddy Brooks, Jr.
Left to cherish Bob’s memory are his wife of 54 years Dorothy “Dot” (formerly Brooks); daughter Robbin Lynn Price Brown and her husband Douglas; granddaughter Lisa Zimmerman and her husband Danny; Krystal Mathery and her husband Matthew; grandson Johnathan Price; great-granddaughter Nyanna; sister Mary Garrison and her husband Jay; sister Ellen Adams; brother Ed Nevins and his wife Kathy; brother Bill Price.
Visitation for Bob will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at Altmeyer Funeral Home-Southside Chapel (5792 Greenwich Rd. Virginia Beach, VA) from 11:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 12:00 PM. Procession to Colonial Grove Memorial Park to follow the Funeral.
Special thanks to Robert, David, the staff of King’s Grant House, and the staff of Gentiva Hospice for all the care and concern shown to Bob, and for the many countless others for all they have done to help us in our time of need.
He may be with the Lord, but he will always be remembered by family and friends.

I became a member of the family five years ago marrying Dot Price’s brother. I have wonderful memories of Bob in the short five years. He was such a kind and loving man. He always made me feel a part of the family! Visiting, he would never let me wash the dishes but would let me stand beside him to rinse. He would say, “that’s my job”! How I loved this man and his beautiful wife, Dot! There will always be an empty spot visiting again. I look forward meeting my brother-in-law, Bob, one day in heaven.

My memory of my Brother Bobby was that he loved this great country we live in and served his country proudly. He loved his family and still managed to keep his faith after his son Mark passed away. Bobby will always have a special place in my heart and I know there are many of you that Bobby laughed with and prayed together. A special condolence to his Grandson Johnathan , remember he will always be in your heart and every time you see a military jet in the sky may you think of him. To everyone keep your family close and let them know they are Loved.
