Riddick Vaughan Jr., a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on August 21, 2023, in Yorktown, Virginia. Affectionately known by his nickname Bubba.  He was born on November 14, 1942, in Ahoskie, North Carolina, and was the son of the late Riddick Vaughan Sr. and Virgie Sessoms Vaughan. Riddick was 80 years old at the time of his passing.

Throughout his life, Riddick had a fulfilling career that spanned multiple fields. After serving in transportation services in the Army, he retired and embarked on a second career as a postal carrier in the United States Postal Service. His dedication and hard work were evident in all aspects of his professional life.

Beyond his career, Riddick held a deep passion for fishing and his favorite football team Dallas Cowboys. It was through this hobby that he found solace and joy, creating lasting memories by the water’s edge. He also attended and was a member of the Masons, which allowed him to contribute to his community.

Riddick’s commitment to his country was exemplified by his service in the military, which earned him several noteworthy accolades. Among his accomplishments, Riddick was honored with the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Sharpshooter M14, Marksman 45 Pistol, and 2 Overseas Bars. These achievements stand as a testament to his dedication and bravery.

Riddick will be missed by those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his spouse Dora Wiggins Vaughan, his daughter Chandra Lenay Vaughan, his son Antonio Payne; his sisters Janet Richardson, Elaine Vaughan, Evelyn Vaughan, Minnie Vaughan, and his brother Joseph Vaughan along with numerous nieces and nephew. Their lives were enriched by Riddick’s presence, and he leaves behind cherished memories that will be treasured forever.

Although Riddick’s physical presence may no longer be with us, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved him. May he find eternal peace, and may his memory forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
