Rich sat near me at Molloy when we were seated alphabetically. He was big and strong but the very definition of a gentle giant and such a decent person. I remember playing softball in gym class and a kid hit the ball off the outfield fence. Rich threw the ball to me at second base and we got the out. Thanks for the assist and memory, Rich.

Rich is sorely missed by many near and far from VA. Charles contacted me awhile after Rich passed when Charles was tending to Rich’s electronic files. Rich and I had been exchanging notes. He was my oldest friend, having met Rich at St. Joe’s in LIC and continuing on together through Molloy.. His work ethic, sensibilities, drive and sensibilities.

Sorry to hear about Richie’s passing nearly one year later.
He was a good friend at school, an outstanding shot-putter and a great Stanner !
Our Class will miss you.

Rick and Charles, I was so sorry to learn of your dad’s passing. He was a good man with a big heart. He joked a lot with me about trying to get to heaven, but I have no doubt that’s where he is. RIP, Rich.

Condolences for Rich’s extended family…..Fun to be around, amazing athlete at W&M….enjoyed being a “cousin-in-law”….the biggest laugh in the world. Thoughts are with his boys, find peace in the knowledge your dad was special to a lot of old friends.

The Big Man was a Big part of my life during one of the best periods of my life. I’ll never forget his laughter or his bluntness. Rest easy Bartender

Many will miss Rich’s “to the point personality”. A practical and independent person, Rich had a soft side that was hard not to love. The many discussions and friendly debates we had were always a highlight of our time spent together.
Your spirit will live on in the hearts of many.

Saturday’s sitting on the deck at Murphy’s, working the crossword and talking through the issues of the day. No drama Saturday. Rich was a kind man and a good friend.
