Raymond Edward Getzinger age 79 of Virginia Beach, Virginia passed away April 15, 2023 at Virginia Beach General Hospital in Virginia Beach. He was born January 07, 1944 in Ritzville, Washington the son of Barney Raymond Getzinger and Amelia (Meske) Getzinger. He was a 1962 graduate of Moses Lake High School. Raymond joined the United States Navy after graduating from high school. On February 26, 1966 he married Lena Mildred Anderson in Sparta, North Carolina.
Ray was a life-long member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and professed a faith in Jesus. He enjoyed reading and computers. After retiring in 1989 from the United States Navy, he joined the Military Sealift Command, holding the rank of lieutenant commander.
Ray is survived by; a daughter, Andrena Getzinger of Dallas, TX; a son, Clinton Getzinger of Virginia Beach; a daughter-in-law, Charlene Fenn of New Bern, NC; seven grandchildren, Nicholas Fenn of NC, Sandra Lilly of New Bern, NC, Gabriel Getzinger of Dallas, TX, Andromeda Lilly of Hampton, Nicole Murray of Virginia Beach, Jasmine Farria of Dallas, TX, and Virginia Farria of Dallas, TX; nine great-grandchildren, Chandon Fenn, Alexis Lilly, Amari James, Arionna James, Amir James, Braydon Lilly, Zeinah Morrow, Dana Manuel and Daja Manuel; two sisters, Marjorie Getzinger of Moses Lake, WA, Cherlyn Dermody (Martin) of Everett, WA; two brothers, Donald Getzinger (Jodi) of Twin Falls, ID, Norman Getzinger (Patricia) of Moses Lake, WA ; one sister-in-law, Sonya Farmer of Galax; one brother-in-law, Dr. Virgil Anderson of San Antonio, TX; one aunt, Dolores Merriman of MD; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Lena Mildred Getzinger, his son, Allen Getzinger, a granddaughter, Paris Jones, a great-granddaughter, Zoey Jones.
