Phillip James Doyle, resident of Virginia Beach and formally of Charlestown, Massachusetts, peacefully entered into eternal life on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital in Virginia Beach. He was 55 years old. Phillip was born in Boston on August 2, 1960, a son of the late Norman H. Doyle and Margaret F. (Dozier) Doyle. He was raised in Charlestown, Massachusetts and attended Boston public schools. He relocated to Virginia Beach, VA on January 3, 1977, where he began his career of over 30 years with the City of Virginia Beach in the Transportation Department.Phillip was a gifted cook with a passionate love for entertaining. He was always up for a good time whether it was camping, canoeing, or attending family and friend events. His greatest pleasure was being surrounded by family and friends. His creativity extended from the kitchen to home renovation projects which prompted him to begin his electrical company in 2000. He is the loving father of Casey J. Doyle and Caroline M. Doyle. The beloved brother of Norman H. Doyle, Jr. and his wife Donna and Paul J. (Doyle) Rubenstein and his husband Ronald; all of Virginia Beach, VA, and the late Joseph (Lee) Doyle of Charlestown, MA. He was the proud uncle of Norman III, Ryan, Zara, and Cory. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Phillip’s funeral and celebration of life on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 11:00 am at Altmeyer Funeral Home’s Southside Chapel, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, May 22, 2016 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. Online condolences may be left to the family on this page.

I met Phil aka P. Diddy, 10 years ago, he hired me at the City and has always been a wonderful man, my daughter Kyra and I will miss him so very much. To his daughters and family, my deepest condolence. Put it in Gods hands

I met Phil 36 years ago, my first day of work at the traffic signal shop. We worked many years together. I will always remember him having a great sense of humor, and truly loving his family. He will be missed.
