My condolences to you Sue and your family during this time of sorrow. Phil was a great friend of mine and we always enjoyed talking about military service, the Navy, and world affairs. Beyond that, it was always just nice to have a cup of coffee and enjoy the day and our friendship as like-minded people. May God watch over you Sue and protect your heart. Phil is doing just fine and he will see you in His time. Lots of love.

To the family of CDR Athanas. I am sorry for your lost. He was my XO on the USS DETROIT and was one of the finest Executive Officer I had the pleasure to served under. He was kind, and had more common sense than most people. He was loved by his shipmates and had this unique ability to set down have a meaningful conversation with you, no matter what the subject. After my tour on the USS DETROIT we lost contact, and years later he showed up at my retirement ceremony. I know he is in Gods hands. God Bless.
