I am so sorry I lost touch with Peter. He was a sweet, talented and gentle soul. I knew him at VCU in 1980’s Richmond, VA. We had a wonderful time going out to see bands play or walking around and taking in the sights. He was a very talented artist. He often talked about swimming with the dolphins. I have great memories of our time.

I was Peter’s roommate in college and we were good friends. We lost touch over the years, but I have great memories of him. He was a great artist. I still have one of his paintings. I will never forget you, Peter.

Peter was a unique guy with a young spirit. He was always so fun and friendly when getting his haircut with Russell. He liked to stay on trend with his hair and had a very youthfulness that made him seem much younger than his 60 years. We will miss seeing his smiling face at Josef’s Hair Salon, but are comforted to know he is now at peace.

Rest easy, Peter, and know that you made a difference in many lives. We will change the color of our porch light this week in your honor!

when i was in my mid twenties, peter learned that i had just discovered the history of the 90s NYC club kid scene. he proceeded to tell me stories and show me pictures of him, there, in that era. i was fascinated by him ever since.
rest easy, peter. you left a piece of yourself with everyone lucky enough to have known you, and you are truly missed

Things I remember, Peter lived two house down from us when we moved to Bay Colony in VB in the early seventies. He was one of my first friends on the street and always invited us to use the new trampoline in his front yard. Always be remembered as a kind soul, unassuming, and someone who could brighten your day. Lost track of him when he moved to another part of VB, but will always recall his quick sense of humor and optimism.

Then I remembered, Peter would have wanted you to know, there were thought’s of being a jockey at one time. This is him in action.

I’ve been friends with Peter for over thirty yrs, he was one of a kind, no matter what the problem was, he was always there to lend a hand. In his early days, Peter was involved with the Hurrah players, and carried that passion with him for the rest of his life. Being an established amateur magician, Peter was a proud member of the international brotherhood of magicians. That being said, he was lovingly referred to by me,my kids, and my grandson as Peter Magic… if I ever was having a bad day or just needed to get out, Peter was always there with an Amstel light and a smile, I never left his house empty-handed, he always had a little something for me to take to my kids. He treated them as if they were his own, Peter enjoyed techno music, working in his yard, changing the color of his porch light, watching the blue Angels, but most of all Peter liked hockey, if I was there, and the game was ready to come on I knew it was time to leave. miss hanging with you my friend. till I see you again I’ll keep my eyes peeled to the sky,, Fly high Peter Max,, you’ll always be in my memory… Russell Painter
