Patricia Marie McGoughran, lovingly known as Patty, “Tuffy McG”, passed away on August 22, 2023, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Born on October 14, 1957, in Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania, Patty lived a remarkable life filled with passion, service, and unforgettable moments.
Patty dedicated over 25 years of her life to serving her country proudly in the Army and Army Reserves retiring after twenty years of service as Master Sergeant. Her unwavering commitment and dedication to her duties earned her the admiration and respect of her fellow soldiers. Following her military career, Patty transitioned into the corporate world, taking on the role of an Application Support Manager for a prominent IT company. Throughout her professional journey, she demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities and an unmatched work ethic.
Patty also attended Robert Morris College finishing with a 3.96 GPA with one B (of which we are sure she disputed).
Outside of work, Patty embraced life and all its adventures. She had a deep love for traveling and delighted in exploring different parts of the world. With a keen eye for detail and a flair for creativity, Patty excelled as a party planner, always ensuring that each event she organized was filled with joy and laughter. Her fun-loving spirit and vibrant personality made her the life of every gathering, and her generous and kind nature endeared her to everyone she encountered.
Patty will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Patricia McGoughran. Left to cherish her memory are her siblings Bill McGoughran and his wife Karen, Timothy Fletcher McGoughran and his wife Allison, and Lesley Brinton and her husband John. Patty also leaves behind her adored nieces and nephews Liam, Morgan, Melinda, William, Ian, Jay and Bobby whose lives she enriched with her affection and guidance.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Patty’s life will take place on September 9, at the Breakers in Spring Lake 1507 Ocean Avenue Spring Lake, NJ 07762 from noon until 3pm. During this gathering, family, friends, and loved ones will come together to remember a remarkable woman who touched the hearts of many and left an enduring legacy of love, laughter, and kindness.
As we bid farewell to Patty, let us remember her with fondness and gratitude for the joy she brought into our lives. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her spirit continue to inspire us to live each day with the same fervor and zest that Patty exemplified so beautifully.
