Patricia Ann McGibbony Mangum

May 20, 1946 – June 27, 2023

Patricia Ann McGibbony was born on May 20, 1946 in Washington, D.C. to Cecil McGibbony and Elsie Biggs McGibbony.  Pat spent her childhood living with her family in Arlington, Virginia graduating from Arlington’s Wakefield High School in 1964. Following graduation, she attended the Washington School for Secretaries.  She moved from Virginia to Arizona where she held various administrative and managerial positions, becoming known for her interpersonal and secretarial skills throughout her career.  Upon retirement, she moved from Sierra Vista, Arizona to Virginia Beach.  Pat is survived by her brother, Robert McGibbony of Fredericksburg, Virginia.  Pat was preceded in death by her parents and Duke Mangum, her husband of 23 years.

Pat was an outgoing and gifted woman, who was loved by all who knew her. As a young woman, she was a member of the Arlington Forest Methodist Church adult choir. She was also a member of the Wakefield high School Choir, participating in the competition and award for National High School Choir Competition held in Charleston, West Virginia in 1964.  She was an avid singer, engaging in multiple church choirs throughout her life.  While living in Sierra Vista, she sang in the choir bass section complimenting her two male counterparts.  She also participated in church committees and lived according to her beliefs.  Lastly and most meaningfully, Pat loved children, although she could not have her own.  She was God Mother to 50 young people, and cared for dozens of children (gratis) at her home to help their parents. Pat is survived by all of the children who thrived in her care and will continue to be remembered for her kindness, selflessness, and amazing humor. Pat Mangum was a remarkable woman and will always be cherished in the hearts of friends and everyone else who came to know her.
