Chesapeake – Opal Leonard Sink, 96, died February 4, 2022. Opal was born in Galax, VA to the late Samuel T. and Margarette Bowers Leonard. She had worked as a hairdresser and had owned and operated the Golden Palace nightclub in Norfolk. Opal was a member of Great Bridge Church of Christ and enjoyed writing poetry and crafting . She was very religious, energetic, hardworking, and loved by all who knew her. Opal had a thing about leaves on the ground and was always racking the yard. She was teased and it became a fun, and loving joke. “YOU MISSED ONE”.
Left to cherish her memory are her niece/caregiver, Margo Atherton, and Kathy Wiley; and a host of additional nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date in Galax, VA. Express condolences to the family at www.altmeyerfh.com.
Ms. Sink had such a beautiful soul. I first met her while delivering meals to her every Tuesday for years. I would always come in and visit with her, even after she stopped having meals delivered, I continued my Tuesday visits. I so enjoyed hearing her stories and talking with her. She was a blessing to me, as I know she was to many others! She loved the Lord, and it is such a comfort knowing there is no doubt she is in His presence! Praying for all who loved her. She will truly be missed.
I delivered meals to Ms Sink for several years. She was such a sweet, funny, loving, caring person. I enjoyed spending extra time with her and listening to her stories of her history. I learned a lot from her.
