Celebration of Life

Nancy Merwin Cassidy, 64, passed away Friday March 11, 2022, in Virginia Beach, Virginia surrounded by her loving family and friends. Nancy was born April 7, 1957, to Lynn and Bessie Merwin in Charleston, South Carolina. She was a graduate of Lake Taylor High School in Norfolk, Virginia.
Nancy met and married the love of her life, Hugh Cassidy in Norfolk. Nancy and Hugh’s marriage brought forth their son, Timothy Cassidy. Nancy’s family was everything to her. In her spare time, she loved knitting, scrapbooking, baking, cooking, and chasing her granddaughter around making them both giggle.
In addition to being predeceased by her parents, Nancy was predeceased by her brother David Durham. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Hugh; son and daughter in-law Tim and Devon; granddaughter Eva, sister, and sister in-law Ree and Sharon and host of other loving friends and family members.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 – 9:00 pm on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5033 Rouse Dr. in Virginia Beach. A memorial service will be held Sunday March 20, 2022, at 11:00 am again at Altmeyer Funeral Home on Rouse Dr. In lieu of flowers, please visit www.pancan.org and donate to our purple stride team, Nana Nancy’s Ninja’s or to Tim Cassidy on the same purple stride site. Hugh and Tim, I hope you can seek solace knowing Nancy was loved by everyone who knew her. I feel so privileged to have had the opportunity to work with her. The world has lost a wonderful human being. May you rest in peace, Nancy.
