Proud United States Naval Veteran (1970-1990), Murlyn C. Dibble, a kind, gentle, generous man, who was fiercely dedicated to his dearly loved family, was called home by his Lord as the sun set December 10, 2018. He has now met with his Mom whom he never knew, and with his sister whom he loved and missed dearly.
In Odessa, NY, Murlyn met and married his greatest love in l969, “Patty” who survives. After very proudly serving his country for ten years in Japan and Guam, they returned and completed his 20 year Naval career and settled to raise their “made in Japan” family together in Virginia Beach, VA. He proudly served as the best man for his son Michael Craig as he wed his forever friend Tara Marie Farrugia. An extremely proud Father escorted his daughter Amy Lyn to the altar as she married her best friend James Paul Marquette, who became his best friend. He now has the best seat of all to continue cheering on his dearest grandchildren Olivia Laurel Dibble, Joshua Michael Dibble and Virginia Kay Marquette.
Mr. Dibble is also survived by his brother Gary A. (Barbara) Dibble; brother-in-law Robert (Linda) Bennett and sister-in-law Joan (H James) Cole, together with many nieces and nephews and their families, many cousins, cherished friends, and the “Wine Sisters” and “S. Greenbush Deer Camp” members. “Harry” was predeceased by parents Doris L and Howard I Dibble; his special sister Dolores, her husband, Roger; sister-in-law and classmate Connie; Uncle and Aunt, Duke and Helen Messersmith; and, step-mom Ruth.
Murlyn passed with his ever-present warm heart and clear mind in his home. He was an amazing father to his children who were the purpose and light of his life. He was a hard worker and highly respected by each employer and co-worker he had worked with throughout his life. He held several certifications from the International Code Compliance, VDOT, and the American Concrete Institute. His honesty, integrity and friendship were highly valued by all who knew him. Murlyn enjoyed fishing, gardening and deer hunting. This loving soul who would give his own to others will greatly missed.
Full military honors and service will be accorded at his interment at the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Rd., Suffolk, VA. Services will be held at noon sharp on Friday, December 28, 2018. The family will provide flowers; however, if one wishes to honor Murlyn, please make memorial donations c/o account-Virginia Marquette online to www.DiabeticAlertDogsofAmerica.com (EIN Tax #46-315-9298) or mail donation checks to Diabetic Alert Dogs of America, 5782 Field Breeze St., Las Vegas, NV 89148.

Murlyn’s father was my mother’s brother. My brother John and I have pleasant memories of visits to Odessa from Elmira – picnics and playing in a local park.
