Mrs. Jane Ellen Fay, beloved wife for 68 years of Albert E. Fay, went peacefully and gracefully into the hands of God on June 19th, 2022, after 92 wonderful years on this Earth.
Born in Bayville, NY on June 15th, 1930, as the only child to Julian and Jane Martineau, Jane was an avid athlete and actor in secondary school before going on to study French at the Latin American Institute in New York, NY. She worked for Air France before moving on to work at Long Island Trust, where she met her future husband. After honeymooning here in Williamsburg, VA, Jane became the mother of four wonderful children: Deborah, Michael (Monnie), Timothy (Jacqueline), and Tina (Michael III). She then began her journey as a Grandmother to Christina (Kevin), Elizabeth (Travis), Nicole, TJ, Michael IV, and Ryan, and in 2020, became a Great-Grandmother to Peggy Jane.
Jane was an artist, a teacher of special needs children, a beautiful singer, and a travel enthusiast who spent many years traveling around the country with Al in their RV. She was a master Christmas cookie baker, a fantastic book club host, and a fierce, fierce lover of her family. Her self-written philosophy, “he who stands idle accomplishes nothing,” was something she lived by, and through this she encouraged everyone around her to live a strong, passionate, and fulfilled life. Her legacy and strength lives on through her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, and the countless people she met and loved along the way.
