Interment

Mona F. Steen, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2023, at the age of 84. She was born on August 14, 1939, in Texas to Tom and Noma Evans and left a lasting impression on those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Mona dedicated her life to her family, always putting their needs before her own. As a homemaker, she created a warm and nurturing environment for her loved ones, making sure they were cared for and loved. Her dedication to her husband Doyle, her role as a mother, grandmother and great grandmother was unparalleled, and her love knew no bounds. Mona’s presence brought comfort and joy to all those around her.

Mona enjoyed vegetable gardening and working around the yard finding great satisfaction in nurturing and watching her plants grow. She thoroughly enjoyed tending to her garden and reaping the rewards of her hard work. However, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. Whether it was gathering together for special occasions or simply sharing everyday moments, Mona cherished the time she spent with her loved ones and friends.

Mona was a faithful member of Green Run Baptist Church, where she found solace and strength in her faith. Her unwavering belief in God guided her throughout her life, providing her with a sense of purpose and comfort during challenging times.

Mona was preceded in death by her loving husband, Doyle Kenneth Steen. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will be carried on by her sons, Wyatt, Rennie and Kenneth; daughter Angie; grandson Joshua and great-grandchildren, Jarryd and Ryleigh. Mona also leaves behind her sister, Candy; brother, Leo as well as a host of nieces and nephews and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

A visitation will be held from 11 am to 12:30 pm on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, located at 5033 Rouse Drive in Virginia Beach. Following the visitation, Mona’s Celebration of Life will take place. She will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, located at 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. in Norfolk.

Mona was a beautiful person with a beautiful spirit. She possessed a deep understanding of the importance of family and faith, which she imparted on those around her. Her unwavering love and selflessness will forever be etched in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.

Pat was an amazing woman who will be missed greatly. She was a loyal member of Faith Bible Church and Green Run Baptist. Such a sweet lady who always had a smile on her face. I am certainly going to miss her!

It was an honor to know Pat. She was faithful to church at both Faith, Bible Church, where I knew her, and Green Run Baptist after Faith Baptist’s building was sold. She was quiet and loyal, a hard worker who never complained, always smiling and thankful for her life. She will be missed. We are praying for her family during this difficult time.
