02/03/1932 - 09/05/2023

Michael Patras, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully on September 5, 2023, at the age of 91. Born on February 3, 1932, in Brooklyn, NY, Michael was a remarkable individual who lived a life filled with dedication, love, and adventure.

Michael’s work experience spanned over 30 years in the United States Navy, where he displayed unwavering commitment and loyalty to his country. His time serving his nation during the Vietnam War further demonstrated his bravery and selflessness. Throughout his military career, Michael made countless friends who shared in his experiences and formed lifelong bonds.

Beyond his professional achievements, Michael’s interests were as diverse as they were meaningful. He found solace working out in his yard, transforming it into a beautiful oasis, and embarking on various home improvement projects. Known for his skills with tools, Michael built a new deck and piers that became gathering places for his family and friends.

His fondness for animals extended to his cherished four legged friend, Bailey, who brought him immense joy and companionship. Michael also derived great pleasure from dining out and was known for his generous nature, always tipping servers with rare two dollar bills.

As a member of the Nimitz Association, Michael remained connected to his military roots. This affiliation not only allowed him to maintain ties with fellow servicemen but also provided a platform for continued support and camaraderie.

Throughout his life, Michael shared a deep and enduring love for his wife, Margaret Ann Patras. Together, they created a lifetime of memories, including dancing their hearts out during their younger years. In their later years, they found contentment in quieter moments, cherishing their private time together.

Michael leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will forever be etched in the hearts of his loving family, including his wife Margaret, their children, grandchildren, and siblings. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A private burial, befitting a veteran of Michael’s caliber, will take place at the Veterans Cemetery. While his loss is mourned, it is essential to celebrate the incredible life he led and the immeasurable impact he made on those around him.

May Michael Patras serve as an eternal inspiration for those who follow in his footsteps, reminding us all to live with passion, love wholeheartedly, and leave a lasting mark on the world.
