Michael S. Kostyk Jr., age 75, passed away on the evening of September 20, 2022, at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Yong, 3 children, Michael, Tinna, Joshua and 4 grandchildren. He was born on August 19, 1947, in New Hampshire, to Michael S. Kostyk Sr. and Rita Kostyk.
Michael was a retired Army Sergeant First Class Veteran who served in the Vietnam War as a member of the 1st Cavalry Division. He spent 21 years of his service as an Avionic Maintenance Supervisor and another 3 years as a Unit Supply Sergeant. During his service he received: Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Overseas Service Bars, Bronze Star Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Aircraft Crewman Badge, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Achievement Medal, Rifle M-16 Marksman Badge, Vietnam Counteroffensive Phase III, IV, V and VI, Tet Counteroffensive, Vietnam Summer/Fall 69, Consolidation I and II. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and metal detecting.
Michael will be laid to rest with full military honors at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia on October 5, 2022.
