Mary Ella Holloway Fattah, better known to her close friends and family as “Jackie,” departed this earthly life on Saturday the 25th of June. While surrounded by her loved ones, she slipped into a peaceful rest and entered the land of Glory.

“Jackie” Mary Ella Lousie Holloway Fattah was born September 9, 1931 to Garfield Mitchell and Ethel Northcutt Mitchell. Jackie also had one sibling, Emma Curl.

She spent most of her childhood in Hampton, Virginia. She graduated from Phoenix High School in 1948, then furthered her education and received her CNA License and worked for Bayberry Hospital.

Jackie was a bright spirit with a huge heart who had a way of making everyone around her feel loved. She was very sassy, a DIVA, and into fashion. Jackie enjoyed shopping, going out to eat, watching movies, and listening to music and dancing. But most importantly she loved her children, her sister “Emma Curl”, in which they were inseparable (they talked all day everyday, which was beautiful), and her family. She also had passion for the Lord and was active in her faith, acting as a “Mother of the church” at Word Mission Church.

Jackie entered into eternal rest on June 25, 2022. She was proceeded in death by her father Garfield Mitchell,  mother Ethel Northcutt Mitchell and grandson William Garfield Holloway IV.

Jackie was a Mother, Sister, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, she leaves behind a beautiful family of 5 generations to honor her and cherish her memories.

Grief never ends, but it changes. It’s a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith. It is the price of love.
