Martha M. Guzman, 64, of Virginia Beach, VA. passed away suddenly on June 12, 2023.
Martha was born in the Dominican Republic to Pedro Guzman and Hilda Diaz. In her youth she attended Escuela Primaria Elvira de Mendoza en Los Mina and enjoyed twirling the baton in the marching band. Martha was known to many by her middle name Magnolia and was most often called “Asesina” by her closest friends. Everyone was mesmerized and admired her beautiful bright green eyes.
Martha arrived to the United States in 1975 with her then husband Daniel A Perez, Sr. and settled in Passaic, NJ. Together they welcomed three children; Daniel A. Perez, Jr., Cynthia D. Perez and Steven A. Perez, whom they raised in Paterson, NJ.
Martha was a homemaker who enjoyed making delicious meals and was meticulous about her cooking space. She took pride on looking her very best. She enjoyed traveling, telling Spanish jokes and reminiscing her best times. She enjoyed putting difficult puzzles together with her family and playing video games.
Her past time was spent making lots of friends, shopping and dancing in the band Fuego Fuego. She later moved to Newport News and eventually rooted herself in Virginia Beach, where she lived for almost 25 years.
She is predeceased by her father Pedro Guzman, sister Lidia M. Guzman Diaz and niece Wendi K. Nin Guzman.
She is survived by her three children, Daniel A. Perez, Jr. and wife Elena Martinez Perez, Cynthia D. Perez and husband Julio Lugo, Jr., and Steven A. Perez and their father Daniel A. Perez, Sr.
Her six grandchildren; Michelle C. Ramos, Dahlia M. Perez, Cynthia A. Lugo, Aliyah Lugo, Daniel A. Perez, III., and Helen Vergara. Her beloved mother Hilda Diaz, brother Pedro Guzman, many nieces, nephews, extended family and countless friends.
You earned your wings, but we were not ready for your departure. You will forever live in our hearts. You will be missed greatly. May you Rest in Heavenly Peace!
