She loved the snow, loved to skate, and built forts as a kid growing up in Massena. She was an activist for Civil and Women’s rights during her career in the 70s at the University. She then met Thomas J. Hughes and married on August 13, 1983. She loved watching John Wayne and old Westerns. She loved reading. She was loved and adored by her family and friends. There was never a person she met that was a stranger and brought happiness to all. She loved animals. Always a caregiver, she watched over and took care her mother when she had breast cancer. She provided home day care to the children of service members during her marriage. Had so much love for children, especially her grandson, Ethan Woodie. They had a special relationship: “She was a very sweet and lovely woman, truly kind at heart. She made everyone’s day better. She was a beautiful soul.” -Ethan
