Mai Nguyen, better known as Mai Mai, was a vibrant soul with an indomitable spirit, passed away on December 7, 2023. Born on October 1, 1957, in Vietnam to proud parents Bac Mai and Bay Tran, Mai’s journey through life was marked by resilience, laughter, and a touch of glamour.
Leaving Vietnam as a refugee to start a better life, Mai ended up in Switzerland. After having her second child, she headed to the United States to meet back up with her family, embarking on a path that would define her as a successful entrepreneur. She was the proud owner and chef of a few restaurants. Being a very skilled cosmetologist and having the ability to showcase and enhanced others hidden beauty, she later opened her salon called Nails Image, her own haven of beauty and elegance.
Mai was not just a businesswoman; she was a force of nature. With a classy demeanor, undeniable beauty, and a penchant for humor that could rival the best, Mai was a woman who lived life on her terms. Her tomboyish humor, sometimes crude but always hilarious, endeared her to those who knew her best.
Beyond the hustle of the salon, Mai found joy in ballroom dancing and belting out tunes at karaoke. She had a soft spot for weddings, where her voice would add a touch of magic to the celebrations. Mai’s love for all genre of music echoed her passion for life, and she could often be found enjoying the rhythm with a twirl on the dance floor.
Mai’s social prowess extended to her fondness for exciting events with family and friends, showcasing her ability to outdrink even the most seasoned companions. Her choice libation accompanied by her favorite tunes made for unforgettable moments.
Though she didn’t like to gamble, Mai immersed herself in the lively ambiance of casinos, drawn to the musical shows that captivated her heart. Her generous spirit made her a friend to strangers and a kind soul to those in need.
Mai was preceded in death by her beloved parents Bac Mai and Bay Tran, as well as her cherished teacups named Chubby, Baby, and Trump.
Left to cherish her legacy are her daughters, Jesse (Jack) Bias and Anh (Cliff Frazier) Nguyen, as well as her siblings Cindy (Trinh) Pham, Hieu (Dung) Mai, Yen (Tam) Mai, and Nga (Chanh) Huynh. Mai’s spirit lives on through her two granddaughters, Abbi and Cassi Bias.
As we bid farewell to Mai Mai, let us remember the laughter, the dance, and the beauty she brought into our lives. May her soul find eternal peace, and her memory continue to shine bright like a star in our hearts.
