Lucille Bouldin Popp, 74, passed away on May 7, 2017. Lucy, to her friends, was born on March 20, 1943 in Portsmouth, VA to the late John Garland Bouldin and Mabel Anastasia Masates (aka Masters). She graduated in 1977 from ODU School of Nursing, became a registered nurse and later a Nursing Supervisor for Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. She married Joseph M. Popp (CAPT, USN Reserve, Retired) on May 30, 1964. Lucy was a member of Alpha Pi Master of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority since February of 1970 where she held the Order of the Rose Distinction and the Torchbearer Degree. She was also a member of Church of the Ascension in Virginia Beach, where she was the Choir Cantor for many years. Lucy loved to listen to music and sing. She was a season ticket holder and attended most, if not all, of the Virginia Symphony Orchestra performances as well as the Virginia Stage Company plays. Lucy was predeceased by her husband, Capt. Joseph M. Popp, in 2009.
Lucy leaves to cherish her memories; son Brian and wife Amy of Virginia Beach; daughter Teri and husband Andy Jewell of Hillsboro, OR; daughter Toni Alger of Virginia Beach; son Eric and wife Drenda of Virginia Beach, as well as eight grandchildren; Rachel Popp, Rebecca Popp, and Ryan Popp of Virginia Beach; Garrett Jewell and Ella Jewel of Hillsboro, OR; Tyler Branchizio of Virginia Beach; Grace Popp of Charlottesville, VA and Amelia Popp of Virginia Beach.
A funeral mass will be held at 1pm, Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Church of the Ascension, 4853 Princess Anne Rd. Virginia Beach and a visitation from 6-8pm, Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Rd. Virginia Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Lucy’s name to the American Diabetes Association by clicking HERE.

I am so sorry for your loss. I remember her beautiful voice from the time I was growing up and attending Ascension. Such a beautiful person.
