Linda Keeter Riddick, 66, of Chesapeake, went to be with the lord on January 16, 2024, surrounded by family and friends.

She was born in Norfolk, Va on April 22, 1957, to the late William “Sonny” and Shirley Keeter. Linda graduated from Indian River High School in 1974 and went on to graduate from Old Dominion University in 1978.

Upon graduating from ODU, she began her amazing 40 plus year career as a special education teacher for Chesapeake Public Schools. Linda never viewed her job as a job, but rather what she was supposed to be doing. Early mornings, late nights, and weekends were spent creating materials that would really connect with her students. Linda truly cherished the relationships formed over the years with her students, their parents, and the other faculty she worked with.

Linda was a lifelong resident of Chesapeake and a member of Oaklette United Methodist Church. She was a patient and kind woman who loved the simple things in life, but had a quiet, quirky sense of humor.

Linda’s passions included spending time with her children and grandchildren; boating, fishing and crabbing, playing sports, doing puzzles, and watching good movies. Linda also had a deep love for playing cards, from family nights playing hearts or spades to neighborhood bridge games and everything in between.

Linda is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 44 years, Edward D. Riddick Jr.; sons Jeremy Riddick (Laura) and Jason Riddick (Ashley); two grandchildren, Garrett and Avery; brother William “Billy” Keeter (Kathie); sisters Cathy Morgan and Debra Kinn (Jerry); father and mother-in-law Edward and Gay Riddick Sr.; in-laws Kevin (Teresa) Riddick and Lisa (Joey) Huerta; and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

May Linda rest in peace and her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.

Linda was a wonderful friend and an exceptional, compassionate teacher. I had the honor and privilege to work with Linda at Indian River High School for many years. She always gave 100% to her students and they adored her. If any student and their family needed anything from food to clothing, Linda was always there to provide whatever she could. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed. My heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to the love of her life, Eddie, and her sons Jeremy and Jason. God has gained a sweet, loving angel who will forever be watching over you and her grandchildren.

To the Family of Linda Riddick,
It was with great sadness that I read in the V-P of Linda’s death. As an administrator in Chesapeake Public Schools, I interacted with Linda in many settings. She was always patient and kind, while being supremely competent. She will be sorely missed, but I am glad I had the opportunity to know her.

I was so very sorry to hear of Linda’s passing. She was always so beautiful and kind; while the amount of love and compassion she expressed for her students was rare and wonderful. Our prayers are with those who are left to cherish her memory. “ God is near to the brokenhearted” Psalm 34:18.
