Lewis “Lew” Edward Riggs, 72, of Virginia Beach passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021.  He was a lifelong resident of Virginia Beach, Virginia.  He was predeceased by his parents Robert E. Riggs and Frances M. Riggs.  He is survived by his two children; Ashley Loffredo (Jeffrey) and Ryan (Jessica); four siblings Bobby (Renee), Ann Henley (Al), Billy (Beth), Richard (Kim), his lifelong friend Buddy Carroll, many nieces and nephews, and his beloved black lab, Mason.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1968 to 1972 where he was in the Vietnam War and received a Bronze Star for his service.  He owned an electrical rebuilding shop, R.C.S. Electric Co of Chesapeake, for 36 years where he had a natural ability and talent for fixing things no one else could.  Lew was an avid outdoorsman who spent all his free time hunting, fishing, and farming.  He cherished spending time with his friends and family, and his motto in life was to live each day like your last.  He will be most remembered for his countless acts of kindness, his desire to help others and his ability to fix anything presented to him.
The family will receive friends at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1801 Baltic Ave. in Virginia Beach on December 3rd from 5:00-8:00pm.  A funeral will be conducted Saturday, December 4th at 11:00am in Tabernacle United Methodist Church, 1265 Sandbridge Rd., in Virginia Beach.  Burial will be at Willowood Cemetery.  Casual attire is suggested.

I knew Lew for more than 30yrs, the first time I walked into RCS trying to sell him batteries, from then on Lew became a customer and a great friendship. Lew was a kind and giving person, and a great friend. I’m so sorry for your lost, and may God Bless. Alan Legrande
