Leroy Oliver Earle “Lee”, 78 of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on July 28, 2016 of a broken heart which has never healed when his beloved Priscilla passed away on March 6, 2014.
Lee was born in Harlem, NY on September 26, 1937. Lee was a first generation American raised by his parents who were both immigrants from the West Indies. His mother Isola Dixon emigrated from Jamaica in the late 1920’s and his father George Earle emigrated from Barbados about the same time. His older brother George was his idol and the person he emulated. Lee’s childhood was filled with music lessons because his mother was fueled by the passion of the Harlem Renaissance and the music from the Cotton Club and The Apollo and she felt young Lee needed a craft that will assist him in going to college. Lee attended and graduated The High School of Music and Art and continued on to receive a Bachelors and Master’s Degree in Music and Education from the Manhattan School of Music.
Lee was married to Priscilla Jane Fullerton on March 26, 1964; they were married 49 years, 6 days before Priscilla passed away in March of 2014.
Lee worked as a Music Teacher and Administrator for the New York City Board of Education teaching primarily at I.S. 292 in Brooklyn for over 30 years. For over 40 years he freelanced as a musician all over New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Upstate N.Y. He had a solid reputation from Niagara Falls to the local jazz scene in the City. His hobbies were music, travelling with his wife, and being a dad. He kept his circle of friends small because he felt when he married he had his wife and son along with his immediate family and nothing else mattered. He was active in his local churches and gave piano lesson until 2009 when his health started failing.
Lee is survived by his son Scott, grandchildren; Taylor, Scott Jr., Langston, and Lailah, great grandchildren, Harley, nephews, George and Clayton and other family and friends.
Lee is preceded in death by wife Priscilla, mother Isola, father George and a brother George.
The Oscar Peterson song, “There is No Greater Love” was the soundtrack that he followed in his love and admiration to his wife and family.

There is no greater love
Than what I feel for you
No greater love,
No heart so true

There is no greater thrill
Than what you bring to me
No sweeter song
Than what you sing to me

You’re the sweetest thing
I have ever known
And to think that
You are mine alone.

There is no greater love
In all the world, it’s true
No greater love
Than what I feel for you

You’re the sweetest thing
I have ever known,
And to think that
You are mine alone.

There is no greater love
In all the world, it’s true
No greater love
Than what I feel for you

Dear Earle Family,
I had the privilege of meeting your precious loved one at Elmcroft of Windcrest Assisted Living Community where my Mother, Rose Kline, also currently resides. While I only saw him in passing, usually, he just looked like a beautiful soul! I am so sorry to hear of his passing, but am gratified knowing he is back, reunited with his beloved Wife. God Bless you all with peace and comfort. Rose Kline and DiAnne Kline Hakala
