Kristine Lyn Summers (Mayer, Huffer) passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2022 in Virginia Beach, Virginia, peacefully in her home. Kristine was born April 20, 1948 to Robert J. Wall and Inger Marie Ahrens in Los Angeles, California. She was a graduate of Van Nuys High School class of 1966 in Los Angeles.

Kristine left California at an early age and after living in Wichita, KS, LaPorte, IN, and New Buffalo, MI, she ended up residing in the Frankfort/Mulberry area of Central Indiana for a majority of her life. She worked for several years at the Farmers Bank of Frankfort, and then Bank of America in West Lafayette, Indiana, retiring after over 25 years in the banking industry. In her spare time, she loved reading, being outdoors enjoying nature, and her beloved animals (cats, dogs, fish, cows, and any other creature you can think of). In her later years, she resided in Virginia Beach, Virginia to be close to family.

She is predeceased by her parents and her husbands, Bill Mayer, Jack Huffer. Left to cherish her memory are her children John Brian (Karen) Mayer of Virginia Beach, James Ward Mayer of Virginia Beach, and Jennifer Lyn Mayer of Terre Haute, IN, along with 9 grandchildren (Elizabeth, Brandi, Crystal, Erik, Caleb, Jordan, Brittani, Blake, and Hayden), and 5 great-grandchildren. Surviving her also is her older sister Karen Smith of California and a host of other family and friends throughout the country.

A Celebration Of Life Ceremony will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, October 3, 2022 at Altmeyer Funeral Home Maestas Chapel. 1801 Baltic Avenue, Va. Beach, VA 23451. Condolences and flowers may be sent to the funeral home or left for the family at

My Dear Kris
Our friendship started in Frankfort, IN
at a Welcome Wagon meeting about early 1975. We have been best, best, best friends for 47 years. We shared everything! Thank you, Dear Lord, for Kris. I am heartbroken, but we will meet again💗🙏🏻
