Kevin Ryder

Kevin Randell Ryder, 51, a dedicated Newport News Police Officer, departed this Earth on April 1, 2017.
Kevin was born on May 17, 1965. He is preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Mitchell Ryder; and his father, Richard R. Ryder Sr., Esq (a prominent Richmond, VA. attorney for five decades).
Kevin is survived by his brother, Christopher Lee Ryder (Kelly) of Clayton NC; half-sisters, Patricia Ryder Foster (Kelly) of Amissville, VA and Susan Carol Ryder of Amelia, VA; half-brothers, Richard Jr of Richmond, VA and David Ryder of Baltimore, MD; many nieces and nephews; and best friend Kevin McDermott.
Kevin was a master police officer and training officer for the Newport News Police Department.
Be it a brother LEO or a citizen in need, everyone knew Kevin had their back, no matter what. His first passion was the PD and helping those in need. His (close) second passion was riding his Harley Davidson. He will be missed by many.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Liberty Baptist Church, 1021 Big Bethel Rd, Hampton, VA 23666.
