Kevin Lorenzo Jones

Kevin Jones, affectionately known as “Swerve da Martian,” slipped away on August 21, 2023, in his hometown of Virginia. He was born on May 19, 1987, making him just 36 years old at the time of his passing.

Kevin’s journey began in Virginia, where he grew up and attended Bayside High School before graduating in the early 2000s. With a cool demeanor and a knack for jokes that would leave everyone in stitches, Kevin had a larger-than-life personality that could light up any room. But it was his huge smile that truly captured the essence of his spirit.

After a couple of years working as a welder in the shipyard, Kevin felt the need for change and embarked on a sabbatical in Florida. Eventually, he found his calling in Virginia as a line cook, but it was his talent for creating music that truly set him apart. Kevin honed his musical skills and enthusiastically shared his creations on SoundCloud, collaborating with his brother J Purp to produce some memorable tracks.

Music and artistic expression were Kevin’s passions. He saw beauty in the intricate storytelling of anime and found excitement in the thrill of scary movies. His love for all genres of music knew no bounds, and he saw his own journey as a reflection of the David and Goliath tale, striving to overcome obstacles and make his mark on the world.

When he wasn’t immersed in his creative pursuits, Kevin devoted his time to being an exceptional father to his two children and a devoted fiancée. He cherished every moment spent in the park, playing with his kids and creating beautiful memories that will last a lifetime. Always ready to lend a hand, he was known for his kind heart and willingness to help anyone in need.

Left to cherish all the memories Kevin left behind is his son DeLeon Reed; daughter Saniya Brown both of Virginia Beach, VA;
brothers Terry Keemer of NC and Eric Jones of FL; sisters Natasha Kinch and Tanya Jennings of NC; fiance Jaquira Ledbetter; two best friends Barry Bishop and Greer Garcia of Virginia; host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunt and uncles.
