Keith Lee Vanetta, 47, passed peacefully Wednesday, July 8, 2020 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends who became family.Keith was born March 9th 1973 to Patricia and Delbert ‘Butch” Vanetta in Cumberland, Maryland.
He was a Class of 1991 graduate of Green Run High School in Virginia Beach. Keith was many things to many people. He was: a break dancer, surfer, a skilled chess player, a pool shark, a poet, a musician, an actor, a band manager, a music connoisseur, an avid record collector, drinking buddy, confidant, and counsellor, as well as a loving son, a brother, an uncle, and a dear friend to many. He loved his family and his friends. He had a kind, caring and gentle heart. Keith was a funny, quick witted, straight forward lover of life that wasn’t afraid to tell you what was on his mind and how he felt. He was always willing to help out his friends in their times of need. He was a fun loving free spirit who went headlong into the adventure of life. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
In addition to being predeceased by his grandparents, Keith was predeceased by his brother Jeff Boppe.  Left to cherish his memory are his mother Patricia, his father Delbert, his sisters, Sheila Zangl and Chrissy Behrens, his nephew Brandon Hyman, his nieces Ashley Sanderson, Elizabeth Hyman, Rene Zangl, Chaeli Brehrens, Hannah Behrens, his great-nephew Deion Sanderson, and a host of cousins and loving friends

I will always think of you when I listen to Morrissey and the Smiths. You were such a huge fan. I will miss your hugs and smiles. I will never think of Astro Pop 3 without remember you playing alongside Dan Villanueva those many many many times I came to enjoy those songs. I’m looking forward to finding you in the life I will end up living and hope for an afterlife so we can play records together again. I will think back fondly of that crazy night I offered to drive you home after some show in Ocean View that we both ended up at. I believed I only went to see you since you were on a rare visit back east. In the middle of that ride home we got an invite to Chad Hugo’s house. Chad Hugo is an amazing musician and producer and has worked with some pretty huge acts and is one half of the Neptunes. The other half being Pharell Williams. It was around 2am and we gladly went. You were good friends with him and I was a fan. I naturally didn’t care despite the hour. Thought it was a rare opportunity. I am pretty sure that the fact that you were no longer a local weighed into the equation too. I am glad I didn’t object. We were already in such great spirits. Prior to the invite we had made up some silly song that we couldn’t stop singing. After the invite arrived, we rerouted to Chad’s and started joking about convincing him to record it. Once we arrived we dropped that idea immediately. I ended up getting somewhat starstruck and kinda shy which is so not me. I found myself reverting into drawing mode and decorating tons on scrap paper. Left those drawings behind. Wonder if they ended up in the trash or remained on the fridge where I placed them. Wish we had more solo adventures like that…. You were an epic man and I cherish that night. Love and miss you sweet kind Keith

Keith, I never had the opportunity to meet you and what a shame and honor it would have been. What I do know, is Jodi just loved and adored you. I have heard so many stories and what great memories you have all shared. You were such a great man in many eyes and you will be sorely missed.

My condolences to all friends and family! May you be at peace.

With sympathy
Words can’t wipe away your tears
Hugs won’t ease your pain
But hold onto the memories
Forever they’ll remain

I wanted to find the right words, i just couldn’t. My heart is broken. Keith, you had such an impact in my life. A true friendship that was like no other. He was a person who was selfless, caring, funny, understanding & empathetic towards others. Thank you for every word you said to me, to last words you said. All the positive advice to always live life to the fullest, thank you for always being there for me through hard times, I always noticed he would always put his friends first, even though he’d been going through his own battles. Thats how I knew I had someone very special in my life. Now when I think of you, yeah I cry, but then I catch myself laughing at times because I think of all the hilarious things you’d say and we’d do. There were more smiles than anything. Mi querido amigo, my pal, now you can rest easy no more pain. I will miss you tremendously. Thank you for always making all the bullshit seem like it was no big thing. You always made me feel like it’s all gonna be alright, even till your last days here on this earth. I thank God I had the chance to talk to you a few days ago, to say I love you and what you meant to me. Thank you for your friendship. I’ll forever remember you mi amigo.
My sincere condolences to all your family, the Vanetta family and all your pals. Mr. & Mrs. Delbert/Patricia Vanetta raised a wonderful, courageous son & kind human being. A beautiful soul. You are one of a kind. ✨✨
