Kathleen (Kay) Freeman Fippinger, age 96, a resident of The Westmont at Short Pump, Glen Allen, VA died Friday, February 11, 2022.
Kathleen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She retired from civil service after working at various U.S. Army installations her husband, CSM Nicholas M. Fippinger was posted during their thirty-four years of marriage. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary 6002-Denbigh and held local, district, and department offices during her tenure. Kathleen was an active member of the Warwick Memorial United Methodist Church, Denbigh, VA for over fifty years.
Kathleen was born May 27,1925 in Raeford, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband, CSM Nicholas M. Fippinger (RET); her parents Arvin Jasper and Viola Long Freeman of Raeford, NC; brothers Arvin Jasper (A.J.) Freeman II, and his wife Louise; and Leroy Freeman.
Left to lovingly cherish her memory are: daughter, Wanda Jones (Carl) and son, Michael Fippinger (Sheila); four grandchildren, Tina Sager (Robert), Tracie Prince, Danny Clark, and Nicholas Fippinger (Kate); six great grandchildren, Kayla Weitzel (Nicholas), Katelyn Gargiula (Nicholas), Kelly Sager, Kasey Sager, Clark Rudder Fippinger and Ann Garnet Fippinger; two brothers, William Freeman, and Tommy Freeman (Patsy), and Sister-in-law Mary Freeman; special friends Trisha Ployd and Kay Fries; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A service to celebrate Kathleen’s life will be held at Altmeyer Funeral Home – Denbigh Chapel in Newport News, VA on February 25, 2022, at 1:30 pm, with a public visitation from 12 pm to 1:30 pm. A private graveside service will be held for the family.
Memorials may be made to Warwick Memorial United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
