Kari Leigh Brooks

May 6, 1973 - February 1, 2017

05/06/1973 - 02/01/2017

Kari Leigh Brooks, 43, of Newport News, Virginia, departed this life far too soon on February 1, 2017. She was born on May 6, 1973, in Heidelberg, Germany, but had been a resident of the Peninsula area of Virginia for most of her life. Kari was a 1991 graduate of Denbigh High School and attended Thomas Nelson Community college.
She was preceded in death by her father, George M. Brooks, Jr. She is survived by her Mother, Linda Brooks of Newport News; her daughter, Kristen Peifer-Waymire and her husband, Josh of St. Mary’s, Georgia; her son, Zachary Peifer of Newport News; a brother, Gregg Brooks and his wife ,Jessica and their soon to be born baby of Richmond, Va; a nephew, Trevor; her partner of 12 years Rick Molthrop; her grandmother, Honey; many uncles, aunts and cousins throughout the country and of course her dog, Rowdy.
Her free spirit, huge heart and unique sense of style will be remembered by all those whose lives she touched. Kari was a devoted mother, daughter, partner, sister, aunt and a friend to so many. Known for her sales savvy and unwavering conviction, and for often being the most stubborn person in the room, her infectious laugh will be missed by us all.
Kari will be cremated and interred next to her father in Peninsula Memorial Park at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Kari’s name to the American Heart Association or the Peninsula SPCA.
