Memorial Service/Celebration of Life

Kara Klinger passed away on Dec 6, 2019 in Virginia Beach. Born in Portsmouth, she was a far too young 41 years old.
Kara was kind, quirky, quick witted, creative and had the most amazing sense of humor. She was never one to shy away from a good thrill such a rollercoaster or jumping out of a plane. Friend to all who knew her and mostly to her furry rascals. Kara’s generosity was without bounds, taking in countless pets in need and only matched by her incredible ability to find the perfect gift. She was an avid sports fan, dedicated to Duke basketball.
Kara is survived by her partner Dana Pelland, her best friend Gil Bantay, her cats and dogs, sister Laura Bonenfant and her husband Norm, Mother Brenda Taylor, Father Kenneth Klinger, brother Kody Klinger, sister Melissa Klinger, nieces, nephews and countless members of her gym family, whom she loved dearly.
We will celebrate Kara’s life on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at 7:00 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5033 Rouse Dr, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. Flowers are welcome and can be sent to the funeral home and/or donations for the continued care of her cats can be made by CLICKING HERE. This link will direct you to the account for “Kara’s Kats.”

Kara and I were two peas in a pod in our youth, incl. high school and early college years. She was a wonderful person and didn’t deserve to depart so untimely. I hope she’s at peace with her frogs, gerbils, cats, dogs, birds, etc. The natural world lost an individual that showed it such kindness and compassion. I’ll remember all the great experiences we had together. Mortality hits hard.
