Kalei Janier Abrams, born on May 16, 2006, in Hartford, Connecticut, passed away on March 25, 2024, in Newport News, Virginia. She was 17 years old.

Kalei was a graduating senior at Hampton High School, where she showed dedication and promise for her future endeavors. Her interests were varied and reflected her vibrant and colorful personality. Kalei adored visiting the farm, listening to Pierce The Veil, and cherished orchids with a preference for the color periwinkle. She had a deep love for animals, nature, and identified strongly with being a Taurus. Her favorite dining spots were P.F. Chang’s and sushi restaurants, and she enjoyed leisurely car rides accompanied by her favorite music. Kalei also found joy in platforms like Twitter and TikTok, and enjoyed a good meal from DoorDash.

Among her dreams, Kalei aspired to become a Marine biologist and expressed a desire to own a house in Georgia with a reptile room and cows in her backyard. She had a soft spot for dachshunds too.

Kalei found happiness in simple pleasures such as getting her nails, hair, makeup, and lashes done. She expressed herself through tattoos and piercings and had a fondness for aquarium visits. Her favorite season was spring, reveling in the beauty of blooming flowers and renewal. Kalei’s enthusiasm for her birthday, her cherished holiday, was palpable as she meticulously planned celebrations far in advance.

Kalei will be deeply missed by her mother, Dionne Abrams; father Joseph Adams; brother Khalil Harris-Abrams; grandmother Phyllis Scott; aunt Letitia Davis-Holliday and cousins Jade, Martika, and John; aunt Raquel Davis and cousins Hailey, Miles, and Morgan; aunt Kashifa Coleman and cousins Suhayb, Zainab, and Omar; aunt Majieda Hernandez and cousins Ismael, Carina, and Gabriella; uncle and aunt Aamir and Suzette Bell and cousins Anajah and Jordan; uncle and aunt Elijah Jr. and Lavora Cookie Simmons and cousins Elijah, Jonathan, Jasmine, Naomi, and Sherese; uncles Stanley Adams, Carl Adams, and Michael Adams (Celeste); aunts Kathy Robinson (Alerick), Josephine Adams, Carolyn Adams, and Jennifer Cooper (Larry); brothers Joseph J. Adams, Kameron J. Adams, Marquis J. Adams, and Ashaad J. Adams; grandparents Oliver and Grace Adams; stepsister Alexis Reid; stepmother Stephney Springer, and best friends Mahan, Calise, Bri, and Makiah. She is preceded in death by her grandmother Earlene Molden and uncles Oliver Adams and Barry Dockery.

Kalei leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a spirit that embraced life with passion and curiosity. May she rest in peace, forever cherished and remembered by those whose lives she touched.
