June Z. Ringer went to be with her Lord and Savior in Heaven on July 17, 2023, at the age of 93.
She was born on June 12, 1930 in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, and was with her husband, Daniel “Heinz” Ringer for 49 years before his passing in 2003. She was a loving spouse and held down the fort while also managing the household and working herself, as Heinz was often on deployments during his Navy career.
Throughout her working years, which began at Giant Open Air Market, June made an impact on her coworkers as a mentor and mother figure. During her time as Front Desk Supervisor at Farm Fresh, she even earned the endearing nickname, “Mom.”
As a devoted mother to 11 children, her home was always full and rarely quiet. Her husband would lovingly joke to her in some of those louder moments, “See what you started.”
Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She loved hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners and any chance to gather everyone together.
June was a talented pianist and often played Hymns and other beloved songs. She also never missed an opportunity to win a game of Scrabble.
June Ringer will be fondly remembered for her unwavering faith in Christ, her love for her family (and those she adopted as family), and her selflessness.
June is now reunited with her beloved husband, Daniel H. Ringer, her son, Daniel G. Ringer, her grandson, Cliff Ringer, and her loyal Westie companion, Molly.
She is survived by her loving family, including Kathryn Miller of Tucson, AZ, Sherry DaBiere of York, ME, Tommy (Barbara) Ringer of Orange Park, FL, Anna (Cubby) May of Moyock, NC, Mary Ringer, Karl Ringer, Teresa Ringer, Cindy (Jimmy) Nash, Fred Ringer, and Jeannie Ringer, all of Virginia Beach, VA. Additionally, she leaves behind 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Our family would like to give sincere thanks and recognition to our mothers caregivers over the last 7 months for the exceptional and loving care provided. Especially Latoya, Kim, Fidelia, Penny, DJ and cousin Linda (aka moms 8th daughter).
A memorial service to honor June’s life will take place on July 23 at 11:00 am at Altmeyer Funeral Home, located at 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s research hospital by visiting Empowering Children Through Your Support
Mrs. Ringer attended many sporting events for Teresa and Cindys teams. She always had a cooler full of drinks to share with the team. Mrs. Ringer was always kind and it showed in everything she did. Having lost my own mom two years ago, I feel the families pain but I know she is in the arms of God.
Sorry to hear about your loss Fred and and for all the Ringers. She was always kind and left your home open to all! She will be missed.
My deepest condolences to you and your family during this difficult time. I will always remember how your mother helped me get my first retail job. I have been in the business since then. She was a wonderful and giving lady. Thinking of you all.
Sending all my love to the family. I loved your mom; she will be so missed.
She loved with her entire being and was loved by so many. She touched the lives of everyone she came in contact with. Her smile will be missed. I know she is in our Savior’s arms. May God bless the family and friends at this time of sorrow and celebration of this amazing woman. We love you and will miss your sweet voice and smile.
Love
Jeff, Stacey and family
