Judith Paulsen Young, 81, went to be with the Lord on May 1, 2022. Judith was born in Bellmont, North Carolina to the late William and Catherine Mullis on July 27, 1940.
Judith was an amazing woman with many talents. She was a second mother to many of Matt and Marks friends growing up. She was an avid animal lover with a special place in her heart for dogs and birds. She worked as a volunteer EMS worker for over 20 years with Kempsville Volunteer Rescue Squad. Judith owned and operated her own business teaching CPR and retired from U.S. Customs as an inspector. Later in life she married her high school sweetheart, Roy Young. Judith was loved by many and will be missed deeply.
Other than her parents, Judith is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Robert “Bob” Paulsen and her son, Mark Paulsen .
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Matt Paulsen & his fiancé Janet Leonard; husband, Roy Young; lots of extended family members and friends.
Judith’s Celebration of Life will start at 6:00pm on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Altmeyer Funeral Home Southside Chapel. Mrs. Paulsen opened her door and her caring heart to myself and so many others! We were so blesses to have her friendship as well as occasional parental guidance. (As teenage boys we needed as much as we could get…Mrs. P’s house Mrs. P’s rules!) I can say that Judy is one of the most fantastic individuals I’ve ever met. With that I find myself VERY lucky to have known her for all these years. To the family our hearts and prayers are with you now and always. Till we meet again Mrs. P….

Judy was a very special lady and we all thought so much of her during these years.
She was always smiling and happy and we know that she will be missed by her
